The V
Sometimes home made boards are as interesting as professionally made boards, sometimes more so; they can have loads of character and more attention to decoration and customising. An example is this little number, 'The V' as it has been named in red gelcoat. When I first saw this I thought it was an old snapped longboard which has been given a new life as a kneeboard , but I now think it was built from scratch because the plan shape gets wider towards the nose a bit like a modern bodyboard. But this one has a fin making it a kneeboard and it could be as early as late 60s, although its hard to tell. It has a great piece of 60s flower power material under the glass and the rest of the board is covered in white and red gelcoat, with a gelcoat covered ply fin. Dimensions are 4ftx 22 1/2 x 2 1/4. I don't know who made it or what it would surf like but just love it as an oddity that someone came up with in their garage a long time ago. If anyone knows anything about the V please let me know.
