Takeoff tips for the 13 foot Future Primitive in steep waves
The Future Primitive 13 doesn't necessarily need a long paddle in, even shortboard style takeoffs ( i.e taking off steeply from a standing start swinging the nose down and paddling a few strokes hard down the face ) work well in steeper waves.Paddling in 'flat' as if the board is a flat icecream stick mal isn't ideal in steep waves.Basically the board responds to swinging the nose down and tail up, and taking off very steeply as the rocker gives tremendous lift and the board can turn even when driving down a steepo face due to the narrow tail and soft rail.So the deal is not to expect to get into the wave very early by paddling super fast and getting in with a shallow gilde path like some very flat and buoyant longboards do. . .. . . it's a big potato chip so needs to be driven like a potato chip rather than a paddleboard.Hope that helpsRS
