During Nossa festival of surfing 2010, Vintage Pacific surf craft hosted an exhibition of belly boards. Decorated by artists/surfers including, Dane peterson, Jai Lee, Tim Crabtree, Keith Hamlin and Many more. We follow the process from start to finish (with a few distractions) of Gold Coast artist Lachlan Leckie.

Wooden belly board with a "George" twist

Billy-Joe Shearsby is a truck driving ,belly boarding , thinking man. And while out walking the dog this idea came to him. George Greenough , velo knee board meets Mini Simmons meets wooden Paipo.
Out with the jig saw and a bit of glue...





The fins are just resting here , but will be routed in and fine tuned as needed. The beauty of wood.

How wide is wide ?

Now this board look fairly well proportioned , until I tell you it is 6ft 3" x 29" wide. I know you thought it was a Mini Simmons , well it is actually a belly board. Now that is some planing area. Pics were sent to me by Paul Jensen of his mate Jeff Chamberlain's new board.Should be a flyer.
