Roachy’s EVO6 bonzer rears

Well just before the docs said no power tools for 2 weeks whilst my tendons, blood vessels and ligaments repair… I had foiled Roachy’s rear FCS fit EVO6 bonzer set cores… and was just about to glass them when Frosties delivered its dawn blow. Here’s the story so far… wood cores in American Ash ready for glassing. They will have a 1/2” halo after re-foiling with a lacquer finish. 

I’ll be making more sets of these for anyone who is interested in a light, wood core (positive buoyancy), dual foil fin of this unique planshape. FCS fit or Lockbox, you choose. £80 a set.

Isle of Wight Atlantic POD EVO5/6 bonzer for Nige

This Atlantic POD was designed specifically for Nige's home breaks around the Isle of Wight. A little less entry rocker, a little more foam through the tail for glide and a little more in the nose for easy wave entry. Vortex channels under front foot to keep it lively (for such a wide board) blending into bonzer concaves. EVO6 set up for the beachy days and then switch to the EVO5 for when the points and reefs start firing. Throw in a set of CRT rear side fins and it is an incredibly flexible board to take on the wide variety the Island has to offer.

FreakFish thaws the frozen North…

Here’s what he had to say: “Hi guys a couple of pics of the FreakFish in action today. This was just before dark it was bigger in the morning and it was still handling the drops well. It didn't rise above 0 degrees all day, so it was cold sessions but only five out in the morning, two and then all alone in the afternoon. The board is going great, it is now my everyday board of choice. I was going to take the Cleanline in this morning, it was pumping, but it was at home and I was interested to see how Le Freak would go. Feel free to put the photos on your blogs but only as the "frozen north". Cheesy grin. Pete”.

Just a little wood staining to finish off Pete’s FreakFish EVO6 bonzer 5’11”. Now back with Mark of Glass Tiger for the final varnish and fin- glossing before it heads up to Scotland for some real juice.

bonzer EVO6 Freak Fish gets woody…

Was down with Mark yesterday to mark out the fin positions for Pete’s EVO6 Freak Fish… Looking beautiful.

Yesterday I foiled a set of FreakFish fins for another collaboration bonzer with Glass Tiger. These have extended bases to fix the fins into the board.
Time consuming to make but worth every second when you surf them.
  

Royal Tubercles

The tubercles for fellow Post-modernist Rob Royal are finally done. 4oz glass sealing layer either side with slim roving bead. Plenty of halo left for sanding these tricky fins. Looking forward to seeing what Rob puts them on and hearing how it goes.

Hand-foiled Royal Tubercles

Well the tubercles for Rob Royal’s twinzer for the fish fry are nearly complete… This time i have foiled them much more closely to the actual humpback whale profile, which is an absolute swine as the tubercles are blunt and the foil is between them, but I am really pleased with the results. Got a little finessing to do before they get the glass and halo and then set off to Rob just in time (I hope)…

4 x 4oz + 6mm aircraft birch ply + 4 x 4oz layup and foiling by yours truly.

Freakfish EVO6 remain my favourite and has a unique characteristic… extremely loose when you are going slow, and stiffens as you speed up. Biggest waves so far have been double overhead and loving it… which is kind of making me re-evaluate what i ride when it gets more chunky!…

Porpoise bonzer EVO4 with tubercle fins: 6’0 x 22” x 2 5/8” low entry rocker with concave soft-channel running from the chest and under the front foot (V’d off the rails for roll and the concave for turbulence to overcome the width and enhance rail to rail flow)  into the double concave V with bonzer channels between the fins (guide the water flow)... with a little spiral V kick in the tail to keep it loose... just a little "almost" summer madness...

A little sanding, a little artwork, speed coats, some microgrooves and these three demos will be ready for some aquatics…
